5/8/2024: Showers & thunderstorms - but still warm!
The latest Storm Tracker Forecast from meteorologist Matt Mackie:
A storm system tracking through the northeast will bring periods of rain and thunder, though temperatures stay well above average for one more day.
This morning, the warm front associated with this system will bring widespread steady rain to much of our area. Thunder is possible, and roads may become waterlogged in spots - take it slow for this morning's commute!
This afternoon, ahead of the cold front, a few more scattered thunderstorms will likely develop. A couple of them could be strong to severe, with isolated pockets of gusty winds and perhaps small hail.
At least we'll be warm - just like yesterday, temperatures will peak in the upper 70's. A different story going forward, with highs only in the mid 60's tomorrow. After a cloudy but dry start, more showers move in later in the afternoon. That takes us to an especially cool & rainy day Friday, with highs only in the mid 50's.
Saturday looks like the better of the two weekend days. Unfortunately, that's not saying much... highs will be around 60 with clouds and perhaps an isolated shower. Higher rain chances for Mother's Day on Sunday, with similar temperatures. Monday and Tuesday are better. While a few isolated showers are still possible, there will be more breaks of sun and temperatures climb back to the upper 60's/low 70's
