Oh, wait, you came here for the Guardians, didn’t you? You came here to read about how Logan Allen laid an egg but Kenta Maeda was worse but the Guardians lost anyways. Yeah, I guess we can talk about that.
Allen couldn’t get out of the third inning because the only strikes he threw were ones that the Tigers had an easy time hitting. He allowed 7 runs, all earned, on 7 hits and 2 walks. He also allowed 2 home runs, which means he leads the AL in doing that. Well, he’s tied for the lead in doing that... becauuuuuse...
Maeda has also allowed 9 of them. He was even worse last night, giving up 7 runs but getting 6 outs instead of Allen’s 7. Yay! The Tiger bullpen was better than Cleveland’s, though, so they won 11-7. The Guardians did not score after the 2nd inning.
Cleveland likely has no better options in the minors. They could have Pedro Avila make Allen’s next start, though. Avila allowed 1 earned run in the 3 innings he pitched in relief of Allen.
Better news
