My dark under-eye circles were a major insecurity but my DIY mask brightened them in weeks – I liked an $11 product too
A HOME beauty treatment rejuvenated the under-eyes of a woman who began to get dark circles while at university.

The content creator, 24, went viral on the platform when she shared photos of her under-eye transformation.
Speaking to The U.S. Sun, she revealed that dark circles appeared under her eyes when she started university.
DARK DAYS
Timuri said she had an unhealthy lifestyle in which she didn’t drink enough water and lacked adequate sleep.
She believes those factors and the stress of her studies contributed to her dark circles.
“I studied biomedical science which was a very challenging degree, therefore the combination of stress and lack of sleep caused my dark circles to get so much worse,” she said.
“Towards the end of my studies, I decided to take action and try and brighten them as they had got visibly worse.”
HOME REMEDIES
“Before I decided to take any medical route to deal with my dark circles issue I decided to look into DIY alternatives first as I have always liked to look for natural alternatives to things,” she said.
“After doing a lot of research on ingredients that are known for brightening and removing any signs of uneven skin, I found a great DIY mask that has been used for many years to tackle dark circles.”
The beauty guru said she cleanses her entire face with a vitamin C face wash before focusing on treatment for her under-eyes.
“This is great as a first step because vitamin C is used a lot in eye creams to tackle under-eye bags and darkness in that area,” she said.
“I then use my DIY turmeric eye mask.”
In a YouTube video, she revealed the mask is made by mixing half a teaspoon of turmeric, one teaspoon of honey, and five drops of fresh lemon juice.
She uses a metal spoon to apply the treatment under her eyes.
After leaving it to sit for 10 minutes, she washes it off.
Timuri said she uses the mask up to five times a week.
“Lastly, I go in with the INKEY List’s caffeine eye cream,” she said.
It worked rapidly and by 5-6 weeks later my family and friends also noticed the major change.

“It is a great product that works by brightening dark circles and maintaining even skin in that area.
“Caffeine is a natural ingredient that is commonly used to brighten the skin and that is why the product works so well.”
BRIGHT SPARK
Timuri revealed that she no longer needs to wear concealer daily thanks to her skincare routine.
She has received many compliments on her skin and people continuously ask if she’s wearing makeup around her eyes.
“The turmeric eye mask took 4 weeks of consistent use to completely brighten my under eyes,” she said.

“It worked rapidly and by 5-6 weeks later my family and friends also noticed the major change.”
She advises people to be “consistent” with their skincare routine if they want to brighten their under-eyes.
“Also look into trying DIY alternatives in skincare as many natural ingredients are used in skincare products you see on the shelf therefore it’s worth a try,” she added.
According to Healthline, dark circles may appear due to several reasons including aging, genetics, dehydration, fatigue, and sun overexposure.
They are usually not a cause for concern, but if the discoloration or swelling worsens speak to a doctor or dermatologist.
