Abortion rights amendment removed from November ballot

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A New York State Supreme Court judge blocked a possible abortion rights amendment from appearing on the November ballot.
Democrats passed the Equal Rights Amendment in 2023, which was intended to protect abortion rights and a person's right to seek gender-affirming care. A state supreme court justice ruled that lawmakers did not follow state rules for approving a constitutional amendment.
New York Attorney General Letitia James said she will appeal the decision.
