LASG TEAM PAYS CONDOLENCE VISIT TO RAY EKPU OVER WIFE’S DEATH
Top officials of the Lagos State Government on Monday paid a condolence visit to the former Editor-in-Chief of Newswatch Magazine, Mr. Ray Ekpu over the death of his wife, Uyai.
The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy Commissioner, Gbenga Omotoso, who led the delegation, said the visit was on behalf of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and urged Mr. Ekpu to stand strong in this difficult time.
According to Omotoso, the demise of Mrs. Uyai Ekpu was shocking, but thanked God for a life well spent. The Commissioner appealed to the bereaved journalist to remain strong and prayed that God would grant him the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss of his dear wife.
Responding, Mr. Ekpu thanked the State Government team for the visit, noting that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu is a compassionate man. “I was happy to read a statement he issued following the announcement of my wife’s death”, he said.
The bereaved husband also expressed gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu for his kind nature, stressing that the visit by the Honourable Commissioner and his team meant so much to him.
Other members of the visiting team include Mr. Olumide Sogunle, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Information and Strategy; Mr. Segun Ogundeji and Mr. Goke Folayan, both Directors in the Ministry.
Recall that Mrs. Uyai Ekpu died on Sunday, 21st of April, 2024 at the age of 73.
