Stranded hikers
rescued from cliff
Two hikers trapped on a cliff in the Point Reyes National Seashore were rescued by a helicopter crew.
The hikers were near Alamere Falls around 9 p.m. Sunday when a rising tide prevented them from returning to the nearby trailhead, said Deputy Larry Matelli, a member of the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office helicopter crew. The hikers were stranded about 200 feet above the ocean.
The helicopter crew used a long line to rescue the hikers, then took them to the Bolinas fire station for treatment of exposure.
