Portal Update: Christian Reeves Down To Four Potential Schools
Some interesting possibilities here for the former Duke big man
According to on3.com, after entering the transfer portal, former Blue Devil Christian Reeves is down to four schools: Clemson, Florida, Oklahoma and Vanderbilt.
It’s not all about playing time anymore of course - you have to factor in NIL opportunities now too. Roster fluidity is bound to be an issue as well, not just because of your own playing time but because of the talent level that you will have around you.
And of course at a high level of college basketball, NIL aside, you want a path to the NBA.
We’re not sure how those various issues will sort out for Reeves, but all four are interesting opportunities.
At Clemson, PJ Hall just put his name into the draft and given that this draft is not expected to be very good, he’s probably smart to do so. That leaves an opportunity inside and as you know, we think highly of Brad Brownell’s ability to develop talent.
Todd Golden is at Florida now and he’s a rising young coach. That might be a tempting situation too. He took Florida from 16-17 in his first season to 24-12 last year.
Oklahoma is in the Big 12 and Porter Moser is a good coach though he’s been up and down so far at OU. Plus there were rumors that he wasn’t entirely happy there so that’s potentially a factor.
Finally, Vandy fired Jerry Stackhouse after the season and hired Mark Byington, who had an absolute star turn at James Madison. The guy really looks like a rising star and Vandy should have plenty of minutes available.
So all four situations have an appeal. We should probably know soon what he’s going to do.
