Brotherhood Playoff Watch: Minnesota Is On A Major Roll
Wendell Moore just may be on a finals team.
Former Duke star Wendell Moore hasn’t played much in Minnesota’s amazing series against the NBA’s defending champions Denver Nuggets, but he’s got a prime seat to witness history.
He did get three minutes at the end of Monday’s 106-80 romp over the Nuggets and scored two points, but he’s not really a factor for Minnesota at the moment.
But the Timberwolves have certainly emerged as a factor in the playoffs, moving to a 2-0 lead over Denver as Anthony Edwards emerges as a superstar.
Minnesota’s defense is truly impressive too: other than Aaron Gordon, none of the starters were even close to .500 from the floor.
Given what they’ve done in this series so far to a truly outstanding team, you have wonder how far this team can go. Is it a legitimate championship contender? Could Moore finish his second season with a ring?
That may partly depend on Boston and the health of Kristaps Porzyngis. The big man suffered a calf injury against the Miami Heat and that really hurts Jayson Tatum and the Celtics.
If Minnesota gets past Denver though, it’s hard to see Cleveland, Indiana or New York beating them if those teams advance. From here, it looks like only Boston could stop that freight train. If only they had a talented defensive guard like, say, Marcus Smart to slow Edwards down.
