Ferguson was a sixth round pick by the Texas Rangers in the 2015 MLB Draft. He was a non-roster invite to spring training with the A’s and didn’t allow a run over 8 2⁄3 innings across 10 appearances. He has a 2.40 ERA and four saves in 14 appearances with Las Vegas.
Jimenez has a 3.68 ERA in 15 appearances, but has walked 13 hitters in 14 2⁄3 innings. The A’s opted to put Armenteros on the 40-man roster this offseason in order to protect him from the Rule 5 Draft. He’s gotten off to a slow start at the plate hitting just .133 with a .528 OPS in 24 games at Triple A.
