Two in custody after stolen vehicle chase from Whitehall to Columbus
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Two people are in custody after reportedly stealing two vehicles that hit three cruisers and leading police on a chase through Columbus that ended near South Franklinton.
A police dispatcher said that Whitehall police were alerted just after 1:15 p.m. to a reported stolen vehicle by two people. The City of Whitehall said that cameras alerted Whitehall PD to the stolen vehicle that was taken from an aggravated robbery in Columbus. Whitehall PD requested assistance from Columbus police.
The suspects led Columbus police on a chase with the initial stolen car and then got out and stole another vehicle, per a dispatcher. A police dispatcher said that three cruisers were hit by the suspects -- two at Franklin Heights High School one head-on at the intersection of Clime Road and River Bend Road.
The chase continued to southwest Columbus and ended near Cooper Stadium. One suspect was taken into custody while another was taken to Nationwide Children's Hospital in stable condition.
