Dillons and KU endowment announce plans for new store
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- On Tuesday, Dillons announced a new location of its grocery store in Lawrence, Kansas at The Crossing@KU.
The Crossing@KU is a mixed-use community built by a subsidiary of the KU Endowment.
The new store represents a capital investment of more than $30 million to further Dillons’ commitment to the Lawrence community.
This is on top of the more than $12 million it has made in capital expenses over the past ten years to improve its current Lawrence stores.
The more than 86,000 square foot new grocery store will be situated close to the northwest corner of Iowa Street and West 23rd Street and offers a range of goods and services, such as:
- Fresh products in all departments
- Murray’s Cheese
- Starbucks coffee shop
- Dillons Pick-Up for online shopping and delivery
- A pharmacy with a drive-thru lane
The Dillons, currently at 1015 West 23rd Street, will relocate to the new store and provide nearly 30,000 additional square feet of retail space. It also plans to hire 150 additional staff members.
The project is expected to start later in the summer with more details surrounding its construction coming out soon.
