I inherited a ‘good sweet boy’ but I’ll never own that dog breed again – we still reference his farts to this day
A DOG lover has revealed the multiple reasons why they wouldn’t want to own a specific breed again.
They spoke candidly about what they didn’t like about the “sweet” pet they inherited.

“I inherited an English bulldog after a relative passed on,” they wrote.
“He was a good sweet boy and we loved one another very very much, but my god… I will never ever own another bulldog.
“The breathing problems are definitely a big factor, my regular vet wouldn’t treat him because of his short snout so we had to see a specialist anytime he needed any kind of surgery or advanced medical care which, for bulldogs, can be frequent.
“When he snored, he sounded like a cartoon.
“You would think my god, this can’t be for real. It was so loud.
“But the real reason I will never have another one is because of the farts.
“Oh my god. The farts.
“He has been gone from this earth for 7 years. But my friends and I still reference his farts anytime we smell something bad.”
Many Redditors up-voted the post and several commented in the thread to say they’ve heard other pet owners complain about bulldog’s farting.
“Had one too. All of the above is confirmed,” one person wrote.
“I have an American bulldog and the farts are well…,” another said.
“I always heard about the snoring, farts, and drool and my English bully only has the snores,” a third chimed in.
“She hardly farts and when she does it’s mostly not awful.
“She rarely drools and she does have a tremendous underbite. But apparently, she and I snore the same.
Signs your dog could turn dangerous
Expert advice from Dr. Sara Ochoa, who has been practicing veterinary medicine for over five years.
Ochoa told The U.S. Sun observing a dog’s behavior can provide clues that they might act out.
“A dog that looks tense all over with its fur sticking up or teeth showing is more likely to snap,” she said.
“Staring real hard without blinking could mean trouble too.
“Growling is also a warning the dog is getting mad.”
She said dogs may tuck their tail between their legs when they feel scared or threatened.
“Staying calm and keeping space may help things not to escalate if a dog seems on edge,” she said.
“But as much as I love her and even with very little health issue I would still not get another – there are too many unhealthy pups of this breed out there.”
According to Pets4Home, English bulldogs are loyal, easy-going dogs that don’t require much exercise.
However, they are “prone to snore loudly” and can “suffer from severe flatulence.”
The breed also has a short life span and can be prone to “a few health issues.”
The discussion about dog breeds to avoid owning comes after a vet tech complained about Shih Tzus on the social platform.
Posting under the handle u/Distend, they raged that the canine has so many health issues that appointments always last longer than scheduled.
“Allergies galore, KCS [keratoconjunctivitis sicca] guaranteed, diabetes, MPLs [medial patella luxation], collapsing tracheas, and CHF [congestive heart failure] as far as the eye can see!” they wrote.
“I cringe every time I see one on the schedule.”
