I’m a gardening whizz -3 low maintenance houseplants that clean air while you sleep, they’re great if you live in cities
A GARDENING whizz has revealed the three low maintenance houseplants that you should have in your home to purify the air.
Michael shared his top tips via a video posted to his TikTok channel, which he often uses to share gardening tricks and hacks.
He said Peace Lilies and Palms are great for air purifying[/caption] Peace Lilies are toxic to pets[/caption]Plants take in carbon dioxide and transform it into oxygen, thus purifying the air that we breathe.
However, Michael explained that most plants stop doing this at night, meaning that carbon dioxide fuses out.
Despite this, there are some plants that still release oxygen into the night, and Michael revealed three which are great to have in your bedroom.
The first plant on his list is the Peace Lily, which Michael said is one one of the best air purifying plants.
He said: “With smooth leaves and bright white flowers, this low maintenance plant adds elegance to any room”.
However, be warned that Peace Lilies are toxic to pets, so should be kept well away from them.
The second plant on Michael’s list is the Yellow Palm, or Butterfly palm.
He said: “With incredible jungle-like stems, this plant prefers indirect sunlight and a light mist a few times a week.”
Finally, Michael recommended the Orchid.
He said: “This beautiful flowering plant will purify and oxygenate the air in your room at night”.
Houseplants are great for people who live in cities, where the air is often polluted due to the large amounts of vehicles which pass through.
Michael’s video, which was posted under the username @themediterraneangardener, has likely left many people impressed, as it has racked up over 2.7 million views on the video sharing platform.
TikTok users raced to the video’s comments section, to share their thoughts on Michael’s tips.
