Republicans want to 'talk about anything else' but Trump's hush-money trial: GOP insider
A GOP insider told CNN on Monday that Republicans are fed up with having to talk about former President Donald Trump's hush-money trial.
While discussing the ongoing trial, GOP strategist Doug Heye acknowledged that Republicans behind the scenes are tired of having to answer questions about it, as they don't see it has helpful to their campaign prospects.
"Just as congressional Republicans want to stop talking about Marjorie Taylor Greene fighting with some of our members, they also want to stop having Donald Trump be this part of the story," he said. "They want to focus on jobs and the economy, certainly the border."
Host Kate Bolduan asked Heye if there are a lot of Republicans "complaining behind the scenes" about the Trump trial, and he emphatically replied, "Yes!"
"They just want to talk about anything else!" he insisted. "They want to focus on those issues where Joe Biden is very vulnerable: That's jobs, the economy, costs, and the border."

Prosecutors this week began getting into the nitty-gritty work of showing evidence that Trump and his allies knowingly falsified records related to hush-money payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels.
Among other things, prosecutors showed jurors notes written on paper with the official Trump Organization masthead that calculated the exact way to repay former Trump "fixer" Michael Cohen for paying off Daniels in the final weeks of the 2016 presidential campaign.
