Arkansas man dies in head-on crash in southeast Kansas
EARLTON (KSNT) - A 40-year-old man from Arkansas died in a head-on crash just northeast of Earlton in Neosho County.
At 3:05 p.m. on Monday, 40-year-old Dean Branson was driving a 2003 Chevy truck southbound on U169 Highway. Branson was passing vehicles on the northbound shoulder. A 51-year-old man from Jefferson City, Missouri was driving a 2021 Chevy Traverse northbound, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol crash log.
The two drivers collided head-on. Branson was taken to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead. An Arkansas state trooper notified Branson's brother of his death, according to the KHP.
The driver of the Chevy Traverse was taken to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, according to the log.
