Lockdown issued for residents in East Bay neighborhood
ANTIOCH — Authorities on Monday issued a lockdown to a neighborhood as they pursued a suspect.
In a message sent out by the Contra Costa County emergency warning system, authorities advised residents in the area of Gentrytown Drive and Putnam Street to lockdown in their nearest place of safety.
“Go inside, close and lock all windows and doors,” the message issued by the county read. “Stay off the phone and don’t call 911 unless you need to report a life-threatening emergency.”
The message remained on the county warning system at 2 p.m.
The warning said police were pursuing a 28-year-old suspect who fled the area. They did not say what they suspect him of doing.
Calls and emails to Antioch police were not returned immediately.
