Spurs duo had ‘angry exchange’ on the pitch and had to be separated against Liverpool
Liverpool Echo reporter Ian Doyle has revealed that Cristian Romero and Emerson Royal got into a heated exchange at half-time against Liverpool, with Guglielmo Vicario having to drag his teammates apart.
Tottenham suffered their fourth straight Premier League defeat at Anfield, with the game following a similar pattern to what we have seen from the Lilywhites over recent weeks.
Ange Postecoglou’s men did move the ball tidily but looked quite toothless in the final third while they looked like conceding every time the home side came forward.
At one point, it seemed like things were going to get quite ugly for Tottenham as Liverpool found themselves 4-0 up just before the hour mark.
However, the introduction of James Maddison and Richarlison helped change the game, with the Lilywhites finishing quite strongly and scoring a couple of goals to put some respectability to the score.
Cristian Romero vs Emerson Royal rumble
Doyle has revealed that there was some infighting between the Spurs players at the half-time interval at Anfield. He explained that Vicario had to grab Romero by the neck and force the centre-back away from Emerson after the two South Americans got into a heated exchange.

Emerson did make life extremely easy for Mohamed Salah in the first half and the argument would have likely been about him losing the Egyptian for Liverpool’s opener.
However, we know that Romero and Emerson are good friends and one would expect the pair to put this incident behind them after the full-time whistle.
