I’m a gypsy cleaner – the 55p buy I swear by to shift green algae and it’ll leave your patio spotless
WITH so many cleaning products available on the market, it can be hard to know which ones are really worth your money.
But if you’re looking to give your dirty patio a new lease of life then look no further, because a gypsy cleaner named Chantelle Devonshire has revealed the bargain buy she swears by.
A gypsy cleaner has revealed the 55p buy she uses to leave her patio spotless[/caption] Chantelle uses ‘Easy Seriously Thick Bleach’ to remove green algae from her patio[/caption]In a clip shared to TikTok (@chantelle19xoxo), she addresses her social media followers and says: “Come spend the day cleaning with a gypsy.”
Offering a run-down of her busy day, she begins by explaining: “So first of all, I had to get in the motor and quickly go and get some more washing powder, some bleach and a Lucozade.”
She then shares a snap of the two cleaning products she uses to leave both the outside and inside of her home looking brand new.
And for anyone wondering, the go-to bargain buys include a box of £2.99 ‘Surf washing powder with fragrance release fresh lavender’ and ‘Easy Seriously Thick Bleach,’ which costs just 55p from the likes of Tesco or The Range.
Chantelle then explains how she’s going to have a quick clean inside, before heading outside to “bleach everything over,” clean her dogs and let them have a run.
Pouring some Fabulosa concentrated disinfectant cleaner into a bucket, she says: “So I’m going to quickly just wipe everything around in here and have just bleached all my counters and that down.
“There’s only me and my husband, and obviously we pick up behind ourselves, we ain’t got children and that, so it’s just a quick clean and wipe over and everything’s done.”
The cleaning whizz then explains how she uses the 55p bottle of bleach to give her green algae covered patio an instant glow up, before washing all of the product off with the hose.
“So I’m just cleaning all the green off so it looks all clean, and I’ve got to wash all my bins and everything out,” she says.
“I find this so satisfying…I love watching the dirt get off.”
Taking the mats from the outside laundry shed, she then sprinkles on some Surf laundry powder, along with a bit of Dettol which she claims “makes it smell better.”
Next up, Chantelle washes all of her white doors down, cleans all around the lights and last but not least, hoses her grass.
She captioned the post: “Come spend the day cleaning with a gypsy – sun is out so time to clean outside up ready for summer.”
The post has since racked up a whopping 339k views, with several people rushing to the comments section.
May gardening jobs
The Sun's Gardening Editor, Veronica Lorraine, has shared the tasks you need to crack on with in May.
GARDEN growth can go from nought to ninety in May, depending on the weather. The last UK frosts are generally seen at the beginning of the month, so all of a sudden there’s so much more to do and grow.
Plant out dahlia tubers
It’s a joy to finally plant out your dahlia tubers. Remember how big they can get – and space accordingly – anything up to half a metre apart.
It’s a good idea to put your support stakes in now instead of trying to work around them.
And make sure you include lots of well rotted manure or decent compost to feed it and then mulch to keep it moist and suppress weeds. They generally start blooming in July.
Final feed to Spring flowers
You can give a cheeky feed to all your remaining tulips and daffodils.
Although the majority of bulbs aren’t guaranteed to come back year after year any more, as long as you’ve left them to die back naturally there’s a good chance they’ll have stored enough energy to come back again. Tomato feed is fine.
Tie up climbers
Your clematis, honeysuckle and rambling roses should be well on their way by now – try to use plastic free string to tie them back into their support, or tuck them round each other to make sure they don’t sprout off in crazy directions.
Feed the lawn
It’s not too late to give your lawn a good feed.
Whether you use granular or liquid, it can give it a good boost to see it through the harsher summer months.
While mowing, don’t go too low with your cut length yet and never take more than a third off the grass height.
Get creative
It’s also time to get creative with hanging baskets and pots.
Trailing pelargoniums, which a lot of people call geraniums, and Begonias are a good, low cost way of getting lovely returning blooms throughout the summer in your baskets.
And pots can be planted with spring bulbs.
Don’t forget the greenhouse!
Give your greenhouse a good tidy and clean the glass inside and out.
The improved light will help plants grow quicker inside and tidying is good for the soul.
You can just use a household white wine vinegar and water solution – or even neat if you’re feeling spendy – which gives a really good shine.
“This is so satisfying, could watch people clean all day,” praised one.
A second noted: “And Dettol – me fave n all!”
Meanwhile, a third advised: “Use Wet and Forget in a spray bottle for your yard it removes the green moss and stuff from everything that’s outside, we do it twice a year, it’s amazing!”
Another agreed: “You should try the Wet and Forget from Amazon for the concrete when it goes green.”
