‘Can see her underwear!’ Model shamed for ‘inappropriate’ dress she wore to friend’s wedding but claims bride allowed it
CHOOSING what to wear to a wedding can be tricky, especially if you want to impress friends and family on the big day.
One guest has gone viral for her wedding out with a stomach-bearing sheer dress – but insists that the bride loved her look.
Despite this, it hasn’t stopped people from accusing her of upstaging the bride-to-be though.
It wasn’t just those at the wedding that had raised eyebrows, with model Isabelle Mathers later sharing her wedding look on Instagram.
Less than 24 hours after the photos and video were uploaded, they’d gone viral with many of the model’s 2 million followers commenting on the pastel yellow dress.
While most of us worry about showing our underwear, this wasn’t such a problem for the Aussie influencer who proudly wore the very sheer dress.
The bodycon dress also featured a high thigh slit and diamond cut-out over the stomach, making the look even more daring.
With it’s ruffles and ruching, the dress looked beautiful on the model but not everyone was impressed.
Having seen a photo of the Aussie influencer and the bride, some have said that her dress was ‘inappropriate’ – especially as it was her best friend’s wedding. (yes, you read that right)
One angry follower commented: “The belly cut out for a wedding? Just seems not appropriate.”
“I don’t want to be mean. But that’s not an appropriate dress for a wedding,” added another.
Some were also shocked by how sheer the dress was, with the model’s underwear being visable in several of the photos she uploaded.
“The dress is so inappropriate already….it looks too beachy plus the black underwear screams look at me,” pointedly wrote a third.
They then commented: “It almost looks white in some lights.”
Meanwhile, others accused Isabella of ‘outshining the bride’.
“This feels like ‘I want to outshine the bride’ girl no,” commented a fourth after adding a tearful emoji.
To which, the Aussie replied: “The bride is my best friend…you don’t think I discussed every single one of my outfits with her.”
Despite the backlash, there were plenty of people who loved the content creator’s look, with some even calling it ‘perfect’.
“Literally, everyone is so upset about how perfect you are,” joked one fan.
Another said: “People are so lame leaving comments putting you down for wearing a dress.”
With the drama still rumbling on, some even questioned why people were so upset – especially as the event had already taken place.
“Does it really matter y’all? She already went to the wedding/rehearsals,” wrote a third, while others begged to know where the influencer had gotten the dress from.
With over 400 comments on the viral pictures, we wonder whether Isabella had expected this reaction to the wedding outfit.

I’m a traditionalist so I love to go to a wedding with a list. A list where the price points vary, the prezzies are a mix and there’s something for everyone. The joy of a list is we know the bride and groom want these things and we know no one else will buy the same – for me, that’s a win-win. I got married 8 years ago and still remember who bought us a certain photo frame or the posh-plate that only comes out at parties.
But, that being said, if someone doesn’t have a list I still would NEVER turn up empty handed. That’s plain rude. Even if the wedding cost an arm and a leg to get there. A wedding takes months, if not years,of planning, costs a fortune and it’s one of the best days out and the best parties you ever go to, so a small gesture of thanks is essential.
I still remember those who didn’t even bring a card to mine!
Also I don’t think a couple should ever quibble if guests want to give you a wedding present that’s not on your list – older generations, in particular, may feel this is more personal.
To be honest, it’s weddings where the couple want money contributed to their honeymoon or their house fund that makes me feel awkward. Is £50 tight, £150 too lavish? Where’s the benchmark? I spend weeks agonising over it talking to anyone or everyone going and then normally take a stab in the middle.
So for me – always go for a list, stick to the list and let the list be your guide!!
