Under 14 Girls to Belfast
As you may have seen throughout the season our Under 14 Girls squad, amalgamated with DLSPRFC, have grown from strength to strength this season with 6 of our members training and playing regularly with the squad names De La Wes.
Our season came to close last weekend as we travelled up to Belfast to watch the Ireland v Scotland W6N match at the Kingspan. Sixteen of the squad travelled leaving DLSP at 10.00am and with a stopover on the way up we reached the Kingspan and settled in. Its only taken the girls all season but the realisation that Chris (Manager) was supporting Scotland just hit them and of course there was the usual “helpful” banter between the two great sides. After rousing renditions of the national anthems of which the girls were taken aback by the fact that Chris could sing, the match got underway and at this point the author will stop talking about the match.
After the match we travelled back to the hotel where we settled in for the night.
The next day Banbridge RFC beckoned as they hosted our girls for a training match and food. A huge thank you to Tom Brigg (Georgies brother) for coming down to support the coaches and the girls. After some refreshments it was time to hit the road again and come back down to Dublin.
A great weekend, with a great squad, great coaches and great parents. A huge thank you to our sponsors Allianz Italia, GuGo, RWL Advanced Solutions as well as the professional services of CCS Coach Hire.
Lets do it all again next season. If you know of any girls that are interested in playing rugby next season please pass on the club email to them girlsrugby@oldwesley.ie. We are also on the look out for coaches to help grow the girls/female section of the club, again contact the above email if you are interested.
