I’ve made almost £1.5k on Vinted in 30 days – my top tips to sell loads & why you need to treat it like a second job
A WOMAN who has made almost £1.5k on Vinted in just 30 days has shared her top tips to sell loads on the site.
Hollie has been listing all her old clothes on the app for the whole of April, and has seen her profits skyrocket.
In a video on her TikTok page, she explained that while she’s been using Vinted for a “good few years”, it’s only been the last 30 days that it’s turned into such a success for her.
“I’ve decided to put so much more effort into it because I have so much stuff that I need to get rid of,” she said.
“It’s an absolute joke. And I thought why not sell it for a little bit extra cash?
Hollie's top tips for selling on Vinted
- Be consistent – remember to keep posting every day if you can, and treat it almost like a second job
- Pay for Spotlight – if you can afford to, it helps boost your profile to the top of other people’s pages
- Price fairly – make sure you consider the prices before listing your items, and be prepared to accept reasonable offers
- Post on TikTok too – or share the items you’ve posted on Vinted on other social media sites like Facebook or Instagram
- Use other sites too – Hollie has also made an incredible £500 on Depop in just two weeks as well
“And I can’t believe I’ve made £1,400 in one month.
“Obviously this is my old clothes as well, so that £1,400 is completely tax free because they’re already my items.
“So that is £1,400 of just pure money I get to keep from selling my old stuff.”
Hollie’ first tip is to stay “absolutely consistent” on the app.
“I posted every single day on there just so my page could stay close to the top,” she said.
She also paid to use the Wardrobe Spotlight feature on Vinted twice, again to keep herself “up the top”.
Hollie makes sure that all her items are priced “very fairly”, and is “open to reasonable offers”, although she won’t “low ball just for fun”.
And she’s been taking to TikTok to also share the items she’s uploaded to Vinted as well.
Doing so means that “if you see anything you like, then you can go to my Vinted”.
“So I’ve stayed consistent and made sure I’ve shared my page so as many people as possible can see it.
“I’ve gained a lot of followers on there as well, and I think that is key.”

People in the comments section were stunned by Hollie’s money-making pursuits, with one writing: “What. how? lucky if I make £40!”
“I’m lucky to make a fiver,” another sighed.
New Vinted rules to be aware of
IF you fancy clearing out your wardrobe and getting rid of your old stuff on Vinted, you’ll need to consider the new rules that recently came into play.
If people are selling personal items for less than they paid new (which is generally the case for second-hand sales), there is no impact on tax.
However, since January 1, digital platforms, including eBay, Airbnb, Etsy, Amazon and Vinted, must share seller information with HMRC as part of a crackdown.
You’re unlikely to be affected if you only sell a handful of second-hand items online each year – generally, only business sellers trading for profit might need to pay tax.
A tax-free allowance of £1,000 has been in place since 2017 for business sellers trading for profit – the only time that an individual personal item might be taxable is if it sells for more than £6,000 and there is a profit from the sale.
However, firms now have to pass on your data to HMRC if you sell 30 or more items a year or earn over £1,700.
It is part of a wider tax crackdown to help ensure that those who boost their income via side hustles pay up what they owe.
While your data won’t be shared with HMRC if you earn between £1,000 and £1,700, you’ll still need to pay tax as normal.
As a third moaned: “I don’t even make that!”

To which Hollie replied: “Get on Depop girl I’ve only had it for 2 weeks and made over £500!”
“I just chucked away 5 big bags of clothes,” another wrote.
“I’ve lost so much weight and don’t fit into anything, is it worth paying the postal fees?” someone else said.
With Hollie responding: “Don’t throw them away babe and you don’t pay postal fees the buyer does.”
“I’ve made £3. I thought that was good,” another laughed.
“Every little helps,” someone else said.
“I need to start this, i have a bin bag of clothes but don’t know where to start on it!” another wrote.
As Hollie replied: “Just start listing babe, it’s so worth it!”
