LASG HAS ENGENDERED RESILIENCE IN GRASSROOTS GOVERNANCE – COMMISSIONER
Lagos State Government has reported the impressive performance of the Lagos State Resilience Office at the Ministerial Press Briefing held recently at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, the Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja.
Addressing the Press, the Honourable Commissioner for Economic Planning & Budget, Mr. Ope George stated that the various epoch making progress at enhancing Lagos Resilience by his Office through the Lagos State Resilience Office (LASRO) headed by Dr. Folayinka Dania, the Chief Resilience Officer has been a success.
The Honourable Commissioner noted that the State has engendered and incorporated resilience in the projects and activities of grassroots governance through the Heads of Planning, Budget, Research and Statistics Departments in the 57 LGAs/LCDAs.
The Office also assessed the implementation of activities that aligned with the initiatives in the Lagos Resilience Strategy (LRS) and ensured continuous collaboration between the State and the Local Government in that regard.
According him, sensitisation of mid-level officers in the Lagos State Public Service was conducted to strengthen resilience in the State and transform challenges into opportunities, thereby ensuring prudent use of Government resources.
He noted further that the Office, during the year under review, mainstreamed resilience thinking among Junior and Senior Secondary School Students in Lagos State Public Schools across the six Educational Districts with the theme “Nurturing Resilience thinking in Students of Public Secondary Schools”.
The Honourable Commissioner, reiterated that Lagos State Resilience Office (LASRO), has so far, embarked on the development and maintenance of Business Continuity Plans (BCP) in eight MDAs, to enable them prepare, respond and recover from disruptive incidences thus, improving resilience in their capacities.
Furthermore, George disclosed that the Office also held Lagos State Resilience Steering Committee Meeting for directional guidance in the development, review and implementation of the State’s Resilience Strategy and the Biennial Resilience Assessment Report.
