The Latest Phillies Injury Updates
- Yunior Marte (right shoulder inflammation)
- Status: 15-day injured list, retroactive to May 1
- Marte “felt a little something” after his scoreless appearance against the San Diego Padres on May 28, manager Rob Thomson said. After the feeling went away, it really “flared up” during his appearance against the Los Angeles Angels on April 30. He wasn’t available during the final game of the Angels series, and ultimately was placed on the injured list on May 3.
- In his place, the Phillies selected the contract of José Ruiz. Thomson believes Ruiz is capable of giving the team multiple innings if need be. (Updated by Tim Kelly on May 3.)
- Luis Ortiz (left ankle sprain)
- Status: 15-day injured list; Expected to start rehab assignment soon.
- Ortiz will start a rehab assignment on Tuesday, April 23 with the Clearwater Threshers. He is scheduled to pitch again the following Thursday. He threw a bullpen session on Friday, April 19.— (Updated by Destiny Lugardo on April 21)
