Man survives being 'trapped' by sudden cave-in near Fernhill Park
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Portland Fire and Rescue is responding to a cave-in near Fernhill Park in Northeast Portland.
Crews arrived to the area near 3800 NE Holman Street around 10:48 a.m. and found a man "trapped up to his knees," officials said.
According to a post on social media, firefighters began lowering a ladder to him and are "preparing to safely enter the hole if needed."
"The adult male patient was able to safely self-extricate and is now out of the hole," officials said. "Cave-in/partial burial injuries can be extremely dangerous. He is being evaluated by our personnel now for any issues."
