1 dead in Hillsboro early morning house fire
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A house fire in Hillsboro left one person dead early Friday morning, authorities say.
Just before 1 a.m., a neighbor reported the house fire coming from Northwest Meek Road, off Jackson School Road.
Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived on the scene and reportedly found heavy, black smoke and fire coming through the roof. Deputies also saw smoke and fire coming from the doors, with the doorknobs hot to the touch.
Hillsboro Fire & Rescue crews then arrived, started to put out the fire and conducted a search of the home. They found one person inside the house. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
The blaze was knocked down a short time later. TVF&R is working to determine the cause of the fire.
No further information, including the identity of the victim, has been released at this time.
