Jordan Torrey (‘Next Level Chef’) exit interview: Gordon Ramsay watches ‘every little thing you do like a hawk’ [Exclusive Video Interview]
Jordan Torrey, the 29-year-old social media chef from Tampa, Florida was eliminated in fourth place on Thursday’s episode of “Next Level Chef.” The content creator on Team Gordon Ramsay struggled in the “Taste of Success” challenge, failing to get all of his ingredients on the plate. Jordan landed in the elimination round against Team Richard Blais‘ Zach Laidlaw, where he was sent home in a unanimous vote. Watch his exclusive video interview with Gold Derby above.
“It was a combination of not being as organized as I could be and not cooking with a protein that I’m familiar with,” Jordan says. “I had black cod, a fish that I’ve never cooked before. If you’ve watched all season, I’m kind of synonymous with cooking seafood excellently. That was my first hiccup. Black cod needs a little more time to get perfect and I didn’t get it on quick enough.”

Jordan admits there’s always pressure when Gordan Ramsay is breathing down your neck as you cook. “There’s always that level of expectation,” he explains. “Every little thing you do he’s watching like a hawk. When you’re one-on-one with him, it’s not only the pressure of him watching you, but the pressure of like, ‘Hey, all eyes on me. I really can prove myself.’ I have a huge opportunity. You never want to mess that up.”
Since his run on “Next Level Chef,” Jordan and his wife have made the move to Los Angeles. “There’s a ton of opportunity out here,” he explains. “This is where TV, entertainment, all of that…this is the hub. There are a lot of hungry individuals out here that are down to work and grind. I just want to work with them and surround myself in that environment. It just made sense for us. At the end of the day, I love entertaining as much as I love cooking. I want to make fun videos that entertain and educate people on food.” Jordan can be found on all social media platforms with the handle @farnumgrindtime.
