Alleged morning attack on woman on Virginia Street leads to arrest
BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A man with no permanent address has been charged with attempted sexual misconduct after Buffalo police say he attacked a woman on a porch Wednesday morning.
Around 10:40 a.m. that day, police responded to a call on the 300 block of Virginia Street. There, they say the victim had been followed by an unknown man.
"The male forcibly attempted to take the woman’s pants down, knocking her over and injuring her arms and legs," Buffalo police said.
According to police, several witnesses quickly intervened and the suspect fled.
After searching the area, 31-year-old Juan Escalante-Gudiel was apprehended at S. Elmwood Avenue and Tracy Street. In addition to the charge mentioned above, Escalante-Gudiel was accused of assault, forcible touching and harassment.
Police said U.S. Border Patrol placed an immigration detainer on Escalante-Gudiel to hold him for immigration-related proceedings if he's convicted.
