I was a trad wife at 19 with two tots – it was great until the relationship turned bad – now I can’t get a job
A MUM has revealed that the trad wife lifestyle isn’t as good as people like to make out on social media.
Alice, from the US, became a trad wife at the young age of 19 after giving birth to her first son, Fern.
Alice revealed the lifestyle wasn’t all it was cracked up to be[/caption]Six years later at the age of 25, Alice is now a single mum of two trying to navigate the world on her own.
The term trad wife is short for traditional wife, and many choose to opt out of working.
Instead, their partner becomes the main bread winner in the family, while they stay at home to look after their living space, cook, and look after the family.
It makes it really hard to leave if the relationship starts to get bad for some reason

And Alice had done the same during her youth.
But since the relationship broke down, Alice was now struggling to find ways to support her two sons, Fern and Sage.
Taking to social media, she said: “How to make up for six years of no job experience or education due to being a trad wife at 19.”
Asked why she wasn’t a fan of the lifestyle anymore, Alice said it made it difficult to get out of bad relationships.
Although Alice hasn’t had a job in this time, she has built herself a strong social media presence with over 600k followers on TikTok.
The clip went viral with over 1 million views and it’s not the first time the mum has made waves on the platform.
In the past, Alice, went viral for admitting she let her six-month-old son be nocturnal instead of getting him into a sleep routine.
Alice explained: “Instead of forcing him to follow my sleep schedule, I go along with his.
“He used to sleep at night but lately it’s been during the day and that’s fine.
“It’s not possible to force someone who doesn’t want to sleep to sleep.”
Commenting one wrote: “A night time sleep routine/ schedule helps babies learn how to regulate sleep which is essential for development.”
But people were quick to offer Alice support in her latest video on her account @alicellanispam and ask why she had gone against being a trad wife.
One person wrote: “Wait but I wanna be a trad wife I hate the idea of not being around my kids and having to work.”
“Same but it makes it really hard to leave if the relationship starts to get bad for some reason,” Alice replied.
Another commented: “Something my current manager said to me: “Your skills as a mother can be transferable! Prove you can be trained and you’re passionate to learn”.”
“You do have work experience. You need to frame your social media experience as work in branding, marketing, engagement, etc,” penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “What field are you looking to?”
“Anything that pays enough for bills,” the mum responded.
“You’re an incredibly accomplished content creator. Just put together a CV reflecting editing, storyboard it, etc,” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “you’ve got this Alice, been with you since your dumpster diving days on YouTube! so proud of you and the woman & mum you’ve become! I believe in you.”

What is a trad wife?
A trad wife (short for traditional wife) is a woman who chooses to take on an ultra traditional role in marriage, meaning she makes dinner and looks pretty whilst her husband goes to work.
The trend takes inspiration from the idea of a 1950s housewife.
Many trad wives choose to dress in the style of clothing popular in this period (think floral dresses and frumpy cardigans).
Additionally, the values considered important to trad wvies are similar to strict Christian values.
Trad wives state that they are not forced into this way of life, and believe that it is their purpose to be homemakers.
