White Sox Minor League Update: May 2, 2024
The Barons simply cannot be stopped, as the farm goes 3-for-4 today
Memphis Redbirds 5, Charlotte Knights 1 (Gameday Box) (Statcast Box)
The lone tally for the Knights went a LONG way in this one.

Colson’s fourth longball of this young season was recorded at 113.8 mph off the bat. Chicago’s top prospect is showing signs of acclimating to Triple-A pitching lately despite having only manufactured a .228 average with a .741 OPS to this point.
Elsewhere on the diamond, Carlos Pérez stayed hot, notching a multi-hit effort in this one. As a matter of fact, despite only notching one tally in the score column, the Knights managed to outhit the Redbirds, 8-7. The difference-maker tonight was pitching. Redbirds starter Sem Robberse went six innings strong of one-run ball, lowering his season ERA to 1.77. By contrast, Knights starter Jose Dominguez couldn’t make it through the third. In 2 2⁄3 innings, Dominguez gave up four runs on five hits while walking two. The rest of the bullpen was solid, only allowing one additional run in the last 6 1⁄3 innings of play, but by that point Robberse had settled in and the Redbirds bullpen continued their strong reputation to take the W against our home faithful.
Birmingham Barons 5, Rocket City Trash Pandas 3 (Gameday Box) (Statcast Box)
THE BARONS CANNOT BE BEATEN. The boys from Birmingham swatted 14 hits tonight, outhitting the Trash Pandas by a two-to-one ratio en route to another convincing win. Multiple Barons showed up to play in this one, but tonight’s star was none other than leadoff hitter Terrell Tatum. Tatum notched two hits including a double, walked once, and drove in two of the five Barons runs on the night.

A quintet of Barons recorded multi-hit performances; joining Tatum was Brooks Baldwin (of course), Wilfred Veras, Bryan Ramos, and Alsander Womack. Ramos’ slump to begin the year looks to be firmly behind him, as he stroked a double among his two hits in this one.

On the mound, lefty Jake Eder attacked the zone and pitched five strong innings of walkless ball, fanning seven and allowing three to score. The bullpen was clutch in relief, with new Barons call-up Garrett Schoenle, Drew Dalquist and Caleb Freeman each combining to pitch four scoreless, hitless frames to close this game out.
Greensboro Grasshoppers 3, Winston-Salem Dash 7 (Gameday Box) (Statcast Box)
A nice bounce-back for the Dash tonight! Despite giving up 14 in the loss on Wednesday, Winston-Salem managed to hold the Grasshoppers to just three runs in Thursday’s win. Showcasing immaculate form and giving the fans a taste of what he’s capable of, Peyton Pallette was dealing in this one. His line would read five innings pitched with four hits, no runs allowed, no walks allowed, and seven strikeouts by the time he exited.
Peyton Pallette with a great night in Greensboro. He tosses 5 innings of 4H shutout ball on 52/74 for strikes. He strikes out 7. No Runs, No Walks. #Dash #WhiteSox #Puhlettay pic.twitter.com/UG2eqozxi8

On the offensive side, infielder Loidel Chapelli lead the charge from the top of the order. He notched two hits, scored three runs and set the table consistently for the guys behind him. First baseman Bryce Willits was the main beneficiary of that table-setting and drove in two on a single and a longball, his second of the season.

All in all, the boys from Winston-Salem played great fundamental baseball, including solid pitching and consistent defense, to secure the farm’s second win of this recap.
Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 9, Lynchburg Hillcats 6 (Gameday Box) (Statcast Box)
A win in Kannapolis makes the White Sox farm 3-for-4 on the night, not too shabby! Also not too shabby was tonight’s performance by Eddie Park. Park drew three walks, notched a hit, stole a base, AND scored three times.
Japanese infielder Rikuu Nishida tallied two hits and three RBIs, accounting for a third of Kannapolis’ scoring.

On the mound, Aldrin Batista was solid despite not sporting his best stuff. He would pitch five innings of two-run ball (one earned), walking three and fanning two in a no-decision.
Aldrin Batista is done after 5 innings. He allows 2R/1ER on 3H and 3BB. He strikes out 2 on 47/77. I would not read too much into the BB #'s and Strike %. The zone has seemed to be an issue for every pitcher so far tonight. #Ballers #WhiteSox pic.twitter.com/fQ76IBRtUb

The bullpen, with the exception of reliever Connery Peters, was on point in taking this Cannon Ballers offensive explosion to the finish line.
