‘Survivor 46’ episode 10 recap: Who was voted out in ‘Run the Red Light’? [LIVE BLOG]
Heading into the 10th episode of “Survivor 46,” the remaining castaways had just voted out comp beast Hunter McKnight. That left eight people still in the game: two from the original Nami tribe (Liz Wilcox and Venus Vafa), three from the original Siga tribe (Ben Katzman, Charlie Davis and Maria Shrime Gonzalez), and three from the original Yanu tribe (Kenzie Petty, Q Burdette and Tiffany Nicole Ervin). So which castaway had their torch snuffed by host Jeff Probst this week?

8:00 p.m. – “Previously on ‘Survivor’!” In the ninth episode, Jeff divided the nine contestants into three groups of three for the immunity challenge. Charlie, Hunter and Maria advanced to the last stage, with Charlie eking out the win. That left Hunter vulnerable, so he started telling everyone that he was going to play his hidden immunity idol. Meanwhile, Tiffany was telling people the exact same thing. At tribal council, neither Hunter nor Tiffany played their idols, and Hunter was eliminated after a tied vote against Q and a revote. Eight people remain on the island. Who will be voted out next?
8:02 p.m. – After the tribal council, Liz was perturbed that she was left out of what she viewed as a planned “split vote” between Q and Hunter, but when she brought that up to the group it was explained to her that it was a last minute decision at tribal council and they knew that her vote was already going toward Q anyway. Aside from that frustration, she was still vying for Q to be voted out and so Hunter going was not the plan she wanted to happen. Everyone else was content that their big immunity threat was already gone, but Tiffany was now on Liz’s page of needing to go after Q next. The one player that went off to speak with Q was Maria because she still saw an opportunity to connect with him and use him in her plans going forward. From his own perspective, Q was prepared to win his way to the end by getting immunity challenges in his favor and was not bothered that no one wanted to work with him anymore.
8:07 p.m. – The next morning, Kenzie, Maria and Charlie were sitting on the beach together and discussed that the three of them could use Q as a fourth player to work with them. Maria and Kenzie were on the same page that it could be time to get rid of Tiffany, both to flush her idol and to get a strong player out of the game. Kenzie’s motivation in targeting her “number one” was that she had to get Tiffany before Tiffany gets her.
8:13 p.m. – For the next challenge, Jeff asked the final eight players about their hunger and then presented them with a rare reward challenge. After racing through an obstacle course, the winner would earn an Applebee’s meal.
8:16 p.m. – Q and Tiffany got off to an early lead in the first few stages of the course while Liz and Kenzie were running last. In the third stage, a net crawl, Tiffany made up ground on Q’s lead, but they struggled on the final stage, landing a bean bag on a tall pole, and almost everyone caught up to them. In the end, the first player to land their bag and earn the reward meal was Q!
8:20 p.m. – With his personal win, Q was able to choose three other players to join him for the meal which Jeff revealed would be also be an overnight stay at the sanctuary. The first person Q brought along was Tiffany. Next he picked Maria because she was the one person that checked on him. And finally he chose Kenzie to “bring the family back together,” even after acknowledging that Liz was in tears and had eaten much less than everyone else because of her diet restrictions. After Q’s decision, Jeff asked Liz if she was comfortable speaking about her feelings. Liz replied with a hoarse scream, “I’m pissed!” She explained that she watches everyone else eat every day while she can’t and then addressed Q directly, saying, “Q you almost blew up my whole game. You overshadowed everything I was trying to do and I said, it’s cool. I didn’t say nothiiiiiing.” She added, “I don’t even wanna be around y’all!” Q replied to Liz that she voted for him last night and he made his decision based off of where his game is at. Then, Liz said she’s over it and thanked everyone for letting her “have that” and said she “exploded.”
8:30 p.m. – Back at camp, Liz once again addressed her reaction and thanked Charlie, Ben and Venus for letting her have that moment. They told her it’s okay and said that they all feel like they need a moment like that. Still, Liz was angry and couldn’t understand Q’s decision. Ben backed her up, calling Q a “villain” because of how obvious it was that Liz should have been picked to go on the reward. He thinks that Q’s only option was to try to work with his old alliance and that’s why he chose who he did.
8:32 p.m. – At the reward, the four recipients were greeted with oversized cocktails and appetizers and then got to work through more courses of Applebees items. Q told the group that “it was tough” and hard to watch, but he knew his “only option” was to rekindle the “Yanu three.” He told Maria that the best way forward for all of them would be to join the Yanu players with Maria and Charlie. They all agreed that they have no connection to keeping Liz or Venus in the game. While Maria was likely ready to work with Q, Kenzie was not as eager and said in a confessional that he can’t buy her favor through a meal when he’s left her out of all his plans since they came to the merged tribe.
8:38 p.m. – Later, when Q left the three others in the sanctuary by themselves, both Tiffany and Kenzie acknowledged to Maria that they’re not ready to forgive Q for his antics the last few weeks. Tiffany said that he’s still a threat, but Maria kept quiet about why she’d want to work with him still.
8:43 p.m. – When the reward recipients returned the next morning, Liz played nice and listened to their stories of the experience, including how they didn’t even eat the burger because they were so full. She also apologized to Q for exploding and he accepted it, but privately she said it was a lie and she still wanted to vote him out.
8:46 p.m. – Maria got some time alone with Charlie to tell him that Q proposed going for Venus and then Liz, but that Tiffany and Kenzie countered that Q should go first. Maria said that “it’s all going to come down to if Q wins immunity or not.” Charlie said that all they were talking about while they were gone was Q, but he still wanted to focus on the Tiffany blindside. They were able to touch base with Venus and Liz later where they agreed that Q is rubbing everyone the wrong way and if they have an opportunity to get Q out they need to take it.
8:52 p.m. – For the immunity challenge, the players were faced with an endurance event that required them to hold a handle that was connected by pulley to a bucket that weighed 25% of their pre-game body weight. The last player with the bucket still up would win. But before they started, Jeff brought back the negotiation for rice where he said four of them can sit out or two of them can give up their votes at the next tribal council in order for them to earn a bag of rice to last them through the game. Kenzie stepped up first to sit out the challenge. When no one else stepped up, Jeff sweetened the deal by saying that if they can’t get to four volunteers then any individual that sits out will earn a smaller jar of rice for themselves. Everyone agreed that Liz could step out to get the small jar. Because four people didn’t step up, Kenzie stepped back to compete and everyone agreed that it was okay for Liz to take the small portion of rice for herself.
8:56 p.m. – When it came to the challenge, Venus dropped her bucket almost immediately. Next to drop shortly after was Ben. By the six minute mark, Q’s bucket was one of the lowest ones and then he was unable to pull it back up and was eliminated. With their target out, Kenzie and Maria both dropped next, leaving only Charlie and Tiffany with the shot at immunity. Both made it to the 21 minute mark, which is when Charlie started showing signs of struggle. In a rock solid position, Tiffany felt comfortable taunting Charlie a little bit, but then Charlie was able to hoist his back up. In that moment, Tiffany lost her grip and her entire rope unfurled and her bucket dropped. Charlie won his second individual immunity.
9:08 p.m. – On their return to camp, Tiffany was still eyeing Q as the one to go and so she was frustrated that she lost immunity because it would have helped her spearhead that movement. She thought that everyone was aligned to go for Q, but she knew that her idol was a threat and the “clock was ticking” on her needing to play it. That being said, she thought that the target on Q was way too big for everyone to ignore. She “bet” that she could keep her idol one more vote.
9:10 p.m. – Maria and Kenzie agreed that they’d go for Q, but they need to get Tiffany’s idol out. Kenzie said that if they go for Tiffany and she plays her idol, then it would be bad for them. Kenzie was having second thoughts about going for Tiffany right now because she was starting to feel like Q’s presence in the game over Tiffany was not something she wants to endorse. She was concerned when she saw Maria talking to Q privately though. In that private conversation, Maria was telling Q that he needs to vote Tiffany because “there are options” for Tiffany to go instead of him. Maria ran that idea by Ben later and he agreed that Tiffany’s idol might be more dangerous than Q. When she brought that back to Charlie, they discussed leaving Kenzie out of the plan and considered who else they could go to as a fourth vote. They weren’t sure if they could trust Liz or Venus more.
9:13 p.m. – Maria was the one to approach Liz. She acknowledged that everyone wants Q out, but said that “this is the only night” that they can go for Tiffany and that she’s the “key holder.” Liz felt like Maria was making this “bold move for the jury” and so she wondered if it was in her best interest to go with them against Tiffany instead of fulfilling her own “personal vendetta.”
9:20 p.m. – At tribal council, Jeff referred to the members of the jury as being on the receiving end of a “massive blindside” and asked what that means for the game. Q spoke first, saying that he’s taken a step back and is at the mercy of what everyone else wants to do. Tiffany said that Q just knows “it is what it is” and that today at camp was peaceful because there’s an understanding that Q should be going home. Kenzie said that Q’s been a “smoke screen” for the blindsides, but now they’re all on the same page. About the reward, Liz said that him and Q just can’t work together and Q shook his head that he put out a plan, but “it’s not in my control.” Ben joined that chorus that everyone is on board for a Q vote, but Charlie was the first to say publicly that he questioned how easy the vote seems. As more and more people chimed in, the expression on Q’s face continued to drop and it seemed like a foregone conclusion that everyone agrees Q is not good for anyone’s game.
9:26 p.m. – Once the votes were put to parchment and no one stepped forward to play an idol or advantage, Jeff read the votes: Q, Tiffany, Q, Q, Tiffany, Tiffany, Tiffany, Tiffany. When the second and third Tiffany votes were read, Kenzie’s mouth dropped with the realization that she was left out of this blindside.
