Amsterdam man arrested on weapon, menacing charges
AMSTERDAM, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Amsterdam Police Department announced the April 27 arrest of John Graveley, 22, of Amsterdam. Graveley is accused of having a hunting-style compound bow and arrow and menacing two people with it.
Charges
- Third-degree criminal possession of a weapon
- Two counts of second-degree menacing
- Second-degree reckless endangerment
- Unlawful purchase of body armor
Police say that they received reports of a man in a pickup truck bed with a weapon wearing a black mask and tactical vest. Police report locating the car and Graveley in the car near the area of Five Corners.
The suspect was said by police to be wearing a tactical vest. Police executed a search of the car and reported finding a hunting-style compound bow and hunting arrows.
Upon further investigation, police say the suspect menaced at least two victims with the bow and arrow. Graveley was arrested and held for arraignment.
