3 injured, including 2 children, in Greektown fire Wednesday morning
A man and two children were hospitalized Wednesday after a Southeast Baltimore home caught fire, according to city fire officials.
Firefighters responded at about 10 a.m. to the 600 block of Oldham Street in Greektown and found heavy smoke coming from both floors of a two-story residence, Baltimore Fire Department spokesperson Kevin Cartwright said.
Firefighters rescued a child who had been injured by burns and smoke inhalation from the basement of the home. A man who was renting a room in the residence rescued a second child, though both he and the child were injured, Cartwright said. All three were treated at the scene and hospitalized.
The fire was contained to the brick building and eventually extinguished, Cartwright said. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.
