Southland crime: Automatic pistol arrest outside Orland Square, fraud in New Lenox

The following items were taken from police and court reports and news releases. An arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt.

Evergreen Park

AGGRAVATED BATTERY: Guerreros A. Saenzpardo, 22, Chicago, was arrested and accused of aggravated battery after repeatedly spitting on officers during an April 20 retail theft investigation at Whole Foods, 9600 Western Ave., police said.

Homewood

GROUP FIGHT: Multiple surrounding jurisdictions responded to a request for assistance in quelling a mid-afternoon fight among a group in the 3100 block of 183rd Street, police said. Officers secured the scene and took three people into custody, police said.

Lockport

ASSAULT CHARGE: Ahmad R. Richie, 42, Lockport, 17700 Willard Lane, was arrested April 23 and accused of aggravated assault and unlawful restraint after ordering four workers into a room in his home at gunpoint, police said. Richie hired the men to paint the interior of his home, noticed a jewelry box missing, displayed a .40 caliber handgun and demanded they return it, police said. Richie released the men after learning a relative had moved the box, police said.

PUBLIC INDECENCY: Stephen M. Richardson, 36, 1300 block of State Street, Lockport was arrested Friday on a warrant charging him with public indecency, according to Will County court records online. Richardson was recorded the evening of April 22 exposing himself on a neighbor’s porch, police said.

Midlothian

ILLEGAL GUN: Suarlin Villalovos-Zacarias, 26, Midlothian, was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon April 23 after an officer saw him shoot a gun several times, and detectives recovered a gun and ammunition from a recreational vehicle during a search, police said. Officers responding to a shots-fired complaint in the area of 147th Street and Kolmar Avenue came across Villalovos-Zacarias, who entered a parked recreational vehicle that he had been living in for the past three months, police said.

New Lenox

FRAUD: Carl A. Mack, 47, 700 block of 146th Street, Dolton, was booked into the Will County jail Aug. 25, charged with three counts of burglary, three counts of possessing a stolen motor vehicle, one count of stealing property worth $10,000 to $100,000 and two counts of stealing property worth more than $500, according to Will County court records online. Mack used fraudulent identification and a fraudulent credit card to purchase a car from a local dealership in September, police said.

BATTERY: A man told police he was punched in the face April 27 after exiting his parked car at Comise’s Sports Bar and Grill, 1004 W. Laraway Road. The victim/complainant said the other man, who also brandished a knife, was part of a group accusing him of parking too close to their motorcycles.

Oak Lawn

ILLEGAL GUN: Dashon T. Moore, 26, of 157th Street, South Holland, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after officers recovered a 9 mm Luger from a napsack in his vehicle during an April 26 search and determined he lacked a concealed carry license, police said. Moore, stopped in the 9500 block of Cicero Avenue for suspended registration, was also cited for driving on a revoked license and driving without insurance, police said.

DRUNKEN DRIVING: The Cook County state’s attorney’s office charged Jose D. Mora-Valenzuela, 46, Chicago, with aggravated drunken driving April 27 after he failed a field sobriety test and they determined his license had been revoked in 2009 for drunken driving, police said. Mora, stopped at 95th Street and 52nd Avenue, was also cited for driving without insurance, police said.

Orland Park

ILLEGAL GUN: Marques D. Williams, 23, 800 block of White Oak Lane, University Park, was charged with unlawful use of a machine gun April 14 after officers found him with a Tec 9 assault pistol, which can be modified from semi-automatic to automatic, and a loaded magazine inside of a car in an Orland Square mall parking lot, police said. Williams was also accused of obstructing justice after fleeing into the mall, police said.

BATTERY CHARGE: Iliana G. Deltcheva, 55, 9900 block of Treetop Drive, Orland Park, was accused of battery April 15 after spitting in the arresting officer’s face as he transferred her from his squad to the police station on a charge of driving on a suspended license, police said.

ASSAULT CHARGE: Christopher A. Russell, 34, 100 block of Prairie Street, New Lenox, was arrested April 15 in an Orland Square mall parking lot and accused of two counts of assault after threatening a couple who had told him to leave their car door alone, police said.

Palos Hills

ILLEGAL GUN: Douglas M. Kowalewski, 47, Palos Hills, was arrested and accused of unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of ammunition during an April 27 disturbance call at a relative’s home, police said.

Park Forest

ILLEGAL GUN: A Park Forest man found guilty of being a felon possessing/using a firearm was sentenced to four years in prison April 25 with credit for three days served, according to Will County court records online. Tony D. Jones, 43, 400 block of Talala Street, Park Forest, was convicted during a Feb. 21 bench trial, court records show. Jones was found not guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and domestic battery, both misdemeanors, according to court records.

Steger

ILLEGAL GUN: Trevon L. Gunn, 31, 1700 block of Dixie Highway, Crete, was sentenced April 24 to two years in prison, but credited with 371 days served after pleading guilty to being a felon possessing/using a firearm, according to Will County court records online. In July 2020, Gunn fired three bullets into the floor of a third-floor unit at what was then the New Colonies Apartment, police said. Two of the bullets penetrated the downstairs apartment’s ceiling and one penetrated a wall, police said.

Tinley Park

ARSON INVESTIGATION: A Wheaton man charged in Will County with setting a fire inside a Homer Glen home-improvement store is scheduled to return May 14 to Cook County court in Bridgeview on charge of aggravated arson, according to the Cook County state’s attorney’s office. Nathan J. Grant, 32, is accused of setting a fire beneath steel shelving units at the Menard’s, 6851 159th St., April 18, police said. In a separate incident, Grant is also charged in Will County court with aggravated arson at a big-box store in Homer Glen, according to sheriff’s police and court records online. In both cases an employee extinguished the fire and no one was injured, police said.
