My clever cleaning tactic means you only have to dust your home once a month – mix 3 ingredients you already have
DUSTING is one of those chores that never seems to be done but with this hack, you may only need to do it once a month.
A home expert revealed the DIY cleaning solution that has saved her a lot of work.
In her viral video, Mary Futher (@madamesweat) shared the simple recipe she uses to dust her space.
“Here’s a tactic so you only have to dust your home once a month,” she told her followers.
She recommended mixing two cups of water with a quarter cup of distilled white vinegar.
After pouring the solution into a spray bottle, Mary added her final ingredient.
She used a “splash of olive oil” as she said it helps to repel the dust from her surfaces.
“Spray this mixture wherever you get dust and you’ll find that you’ll only have to dust once a month,” Mary said.
The cleaning pro suggested added a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the solution if you’re “feeling fancy.”
Olive oil provides a coating to your furniture which prevents dust from settling.
The experts at Apartment Therapy explained that the ingredient can also create a polished finish.
“[It] also polishes your dusty surfaces, keeping dust away for a longer period of time,” they said.
Cleaning pros at Filter King discussed the role that vinegar plays in dusting.
“Vinegar is highly acidic and will kill just about any mite that crosses its path,” they explained.
The experts suggested mopping your entire home with vinegar for a dust-free zone.
Instagram users shared their thoughts on the hack in the comments section.
“I can dust a room, then seemingly just turn around and it needs dusting again,” wrote one viewer.
