AN interior designer has revealed must-try solutions for keeping homes free from clutter.
She shared several organization hacks that help to maximize space and maintain tidiness.
Amanda Foster is the founder of Foster Decor Consulting and has over 10 years of experience as an award-winning interior designer.
Speaking to The U.S. Sun, she revealed the organization tips she swears by for homes of all sizes.
BEAUTIFUL BOXES
“To keep clutter out of sight try using funky large decorative baskets or boxes to store your blankets or board games,” Foster said.
“This will keep clutter out of the way while still looking tidy throughout your space.”
Target has a wide selection of decorative boxes that are flat and foldable, while sturdy enough to store books, craft supplies, and kids’ toys.
HEADS UP
“Vertical space is going to be your best friend for decluttering,” Foster said.
“Naturally, our eyes aren’t drawn upward so it’s often forgotten about so try out tall bookcases or floating shelves to organize and declutter your books and trinkets.”
NOTE-TAKING
Foster said everything should be labeled to make it easy to find items when needed.
“This will help you stay organized which is super important after you’ve put the work in to get organized,” she said.
“Upkeep is key and knowing where things go is a huge tidy habit.
“Having a system and labels helps you and everyone else living in the home know exactly where everything belongs.”
BOUNDARY BASICS
“A lot of times our drawers become a jumbled mess of clothes and random items so try using drawer dividers so you can make the most out of your drawer space,” Foster said.
“This will help you see things clearly once you open your drawer which will also save you time.

“There are a variety of options according to your needs – underwear to sunglasses – in different colors to add some TLC to even the inside of your dresser.”
SPACE SAVERS
“If you’re crunched on space take advantage of your doors by using hooks,” Foster said.
“You can use towel hooks, hang a mirror, or even hang shoe storage.
“I use different kinds practically on every door in my house.
“There are a lot of options for things you can hang on your door to free up more space and optimize your home.
“For instance, my hall closet with my vacuum and coats has a shoe rack but I place Windex spray bottles or different cleaning items.
“Think outside of the box. It doesn’t have to be for heat it’s intended.”
Foster previously encouraged homeowners to get creative when upgrading rooms on a budget.
She recommended using LED lights to set the mood and having fun with paint.
