I hated my ugly front door but couldn’t afford a new one so gave it a glow up for under £30 – it didn’t take long either
SHE hated her “ugly” front door.
But instead of splashing the cash on an entirely new one, a homeowner has shown how she managed to give hers a glow up, for less than £30.
So she gave it a glow up instead, for less than £30[/caption]She took to TikTok to share a video of the transformation, over the top of which she wrote: “How to transform your front door for less than £30”.
“If you have an ugly front door like me, don’t worry, you don’t need to fork out hundreds on brand new door – you just need to buy a tub of paint specific for your door,” she began.
She chose green, and got to work cleaning the door with sugar soap and giving it a light sanding before she started painting it.
“After the first coat you might think, ‘What the hell am I doing? I’ve ruined it!’ but the second coat gives much better coverage,” she said.
She concluded the video by showing off the final look once the paint had dried, noting that it was done apart from a new handle and new door numbers.
“But what a glow up!” she said.

“Painting your front door is such an easy hack to give your home a more welcoming vibe,” she added in the caption.
And impressed viewers were quick to heap praise on the woman in the comments section, with one writing: “Looks fantastic. Love that green!”
“good job…paint it once more before you fit a new flap and handle …maybe a matte clear coat also,” another suggested.
“looks fab, small things make such a great impact,” a third commented.
“You should of bought a undercoat that goes with the colour, then you wouldn’t of had to put so many coats on your door,” someone else said.
To which the woman replied that she’d learned her lesson.
“Beautiful!” another praised.
“Door wreath would look nice on it too!”
“Don’t worry, wreath and hanging baskets pending!” she laughed in response.
“You convinced my husband when I couldn’t so thank you,” someone else commented.
In another video, she revealed that she’d used the Weathershield Multisurface paint by Dulux in shade Green Glade.
She also said that with the other fixtures she needs to buy for the door, the entire transformation cost her less than £40.
” £40 for this kind of transformation?” she concluded.
“I am here for it!”
