Brunson and Maxey put on point guard battle that would make Curry proud
THAT’S HOW YOU PLAY THE POINT GUARD POSITION!
The 6-foot-3 Stephen Curry is obviously the golden standard for point guards of this generation. His ability to be an efficient, score-first killer who can also get his teammates involved broke the paradigm of what a PG could be in the modern era.
And now the league has shifted towards more and more guards who can fill up the stat sheet with scintillating scoring performances that drop jaws and create instant highlights. Take the Philadelphia 76ers Tyrese Maxey and the New York Knicks Jalen Brunson for example, two guards who took over for their teams tonight in an exhilarating overtime battle that ultimately went Philly’s way 112-106. The win closed the Knicks’ series lead to 3-2 and kept the Sixers alive.
The 6-foot-2 Maxey scored 46 points and the 6-foot-2 Brunson added 40 of his own as each displayed a dazzling area of shotmaking ability and ball handling that shows the next generation of point guards is in good hands.
Whatever money was made at MSG tonight… Maxey and Brunson deserves half.

Thank you Curry for inspiring the next generation of point guards to dominate on the postseason’s biggest stage. Let the little guards get some!
