Child advocacy center gets new grant funding
SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- New funding is on the way for the Schenectady County Child Advocacy Center. Local leaders presented a $50,000 check from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services to the organization on Tuesday.
Officials with the center said the money will go toward expansion projects that will help them continue to provide services to victims.
"Assembly member Steck's effort will advance the Schenectady County Child Advocacy Center's mission, which is to further minimize trauma to child victims and their families during their healing journey following abuse," Schenectady County Child Advocacy Center Dir. Susan Casey said.
According to New York State, the number of child abuse reports has been trending upwards since 2020. The child advocacy center said they are on track to open around 300 forensic investigations this year.
