Lloyd Police make arrest in larceny investigation
LLOYD, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Town of Lloyd Police Department announced that an arrest has been made in connection to multiple thefts in the town. Tobi Tobin, 54, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, with additional charges reportedly expected.
Lloyd Police say Tobin is a suspect in over 15 larcenies from unlocked cars throughout Lloyd across the last few weeks. He has allegedly been arrested 19 times previously with five felony convictions, and is currently on parole for third-degree grand larceny, according to police.
Tobin was found to be in possession of a stolen Trek mountain bike and a stolen Samsung tablet at the time of his arrest on April 29. Lloyd Police conducted the investigation in tandem with the New Paltz Police Department, as Tobin is also reportedly a suspect in similar theft incidents in New Paltz and Dutchess County.
Tobin was arraigned at the Town of Esopus Court before being remanded to the Ulster County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to appear in the Town of Lloyd Court on May 2.
