Britain’s Got Talent fans name FIVE ways to return show to former glory as they demand major shake-up
BORED Britain’s Got Talent fans have made a list of five ultimatums that they say will help bring the show back to it’s former glory.
Some fans of the ITV talent contest have been left fearing that the programme has become stale in recent years.
As well as that, others have complained that certain axed elements were the few parts of the show that were still keeping the show fiery and engaging.
This year, a series of contestants have once again be battling it out to impress the show’s judges – Simon Cowell, Bruno Tonioli, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon.
It is the second year that Bruno has been a part of the panel after replacing comedian David Walliams after he was axed from the programme.
Whilst his addition to the panel has been widely-praised, BGT fans have issued an urgent list to producers of five changes that need to be made to improve the show once and for all.
CUT THE EDITS
I would show the auditions unedited so that viewers at home could see exactly what the live audiences see in the theatres.

ITV viewers have insisted that the show needs to air the auditions in their full, unedited glory.
During their TV broadcast, the show’s auditions are often edited to suit a certain narrative or to enhance performance value.
Not only this, but background music if often used to add to highly emotive situations and moments on the programme.
The show recently came under first from users on X – formerly Twitter – for excessive use of slow-motion during Golden Buzzer performances with some even suggesting it gave away who may be getting the honour thanks to the editing trick.
One fan penned: “The music never seems to match the action on screen and this is made even worse by the slo-mo.”
OPENING UP
I would bring back the programme’s original title music, which seems to have gone missing.

BGT became renowned for its iconic theme tune and opening credits which launched each episode.
The theme signalled the start of a Saturday night but in recent weeks appears to have vanished.
ITV appear to have ditched using the opening credits from the programme in favour of sketches and backstage footage.
However, they may want to re-think this decision after it was recently slammed for its ‘distasteful’ opener.
The ITV talent contest saw its opening replaced with an ITV News intro before newscaster Charlene White appeared on-screen appearing to deliver breaking news to the nation.
However, it soon transpired to be an ill-timed stunt that saw the judges being hounded in a fake press conference made up of children.
The moment left ITV viewers panicked that there was terrible news to update the nation on particularly given the news presenter Rageh Omaar’s ill health live on air.
Others were also left fearing it was a news update regarding King Charles amid his current battle given that programmes have been interrupted by news coverage in the past where there is a serious health update regarding a member of the Royal Family.

They really need to bring back The Public Wildcard I found it such a great edition so us as the public got to choose the act to make the final Alongside the judges wildcard.

Fuming fans want to be allowed to have an extra say when it comes to which contestants make it through to the final.
On BGT, six semi-final heats take place whereby two contestants make it through per round and seven are sent home.
The act with the most votes instantly makes it through whilst the second and third highest face the judges vote as they must choose one to save.
At the end of the semi-final week, the judges are then allowed to pick another act to bring to the grand final.
In previous years, a second public wildcard was also allowed but this has been axed as of late – a move which has seemingly left fans fuming.
Another viewer insisted: “Bring back the PUBLIC wildcard. The Judges one is just who Simon wants in the final.”
LIVE MUSICIANS
I would get live musicians involved. It pains to me to see the orchestra pits so empty, and that should be corrected.

Some viewers think that adding live musicians to the mix will help to create an atmosphere to the show.
Adding a musical orchestra could make use of the programme being recorded in iconic theatre spaces including the London Palladium and Salford’s The Lowry.
It is safe to say that the BGT choir acts are unlikely to disagree.

Not many shows have managed to retain having a fun and daft spin-off show.
BGT is one of the programmes that have fallen victim to the spin-off axing with Britain’s Got More Talent pulled off the air in 2019.
Stephen Mulhern famously hosted the show for 12 years sharing clips of unaired auditions as well as live chaos during the live show weeks from his famous Chair Store.

2007: Paul Potts – The first ever winner of BGT was opera singer Paul Potts. He saw off competition from Connie Talbot, The Bar Wizards, Bessie Cursors, Damon Scott and Kombat Breakers to win.

2010 – Spellbound: Gymnastic troupe Spellbound really impressed judge Simon Cowell with their stunning routines and incredible stunts in 2010. At the time, the music mogul said: “I can only say on live television that was one of the most astonishing things I have ever seen.”
2011 – Jai McDowall: Viewers were stunned when Jai McDowall won the show in 2011, as young singer Ronan Parke was the favourite to win the series.
2012 – Ashleigh and Pudsy: Ashleigh Butler and her adorable pooch Pudsey stole hearts when they performed in series six of the talent show.
2013 – Attraction: Hungarian shadow artist group Attraction won the seventh series of Britain’s Got Talent. The squad had taken part in the German version of BGT in 2012, however, they had only placed seventh.
2014 – Collabro: Classical music band Collabro faced tough competition in the 2014 final as all the finalist were singers, but they went on to scoop the crown.
2015 – Jules O’Dwyer & Matisse: Dog lovers everywhere could’t get enough of Jules O’Dwyer and pet pup Matisse. The impressive duo even performed on a tightrope to secure their win.
2016 – Richard Jones: Army man Richard Jones became the first magician in the show’s history to win Britain’s Got Talent.
2017 – Tokio Myers: Pianist Tokio Myers impressed the judges with his blend of classical and electronic music.
2018 – Lost Voice Guy: Stand-up comedian Lost Voice Guy, who performs with a speech synthesiser, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when he was six months old. However, he defied the odds and is a BGT champ.
2019 – Colin Thackery: Veteran army officer Colin Thackery warmed the nations hearts with his singing voice. He was crowned winner of BGT after singing Michael Ball’s Love Changes Everything.
2020 – Jon Courtenay: Singer and pianist Jon Courtenay was Ant and Dec’s Golden Buzzer act. After he won the £250,000 prize he said: “”Just amazing, I can’t believe it.”
2022 – Axel Blake: Comedian Axel Blake scooped the crown after the show was off air for two years during Covid.
2023 – Viggo Venn: The reigning BGT champ is comedian Viggo Venn.
