Brotherhood Playoff Watch: Celtics Up 3-1 But New Orleans And The L.A. Lakers Are Out
Back to the drawing board
In Monday’s Brotherhood Playoff Action, Boston took a 3-1 lead over Miami, 102-88, while Oklahoma City eliminated New Orleans 97-89 and Denver knocked the Lakers out 108-106.
Jayson Tatum finished with 20 points, 11 rebounds and five assists and was involved in a bizarre play that’s kind of hard to describe. Take a look at this.
New Orleans odds of beating OKC went down sharply when Zion Williamson hurt himself against the Lakers in one of the play-in games.
Brandon Ingram, who has been playing through an injury, had just eight points on 2-14 from he floor. He had four rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks.
As for the Los Angeles Lakers, Cam Reddish is out with an injury and Harry Giles is not listed in the box scores.
Odds are this era of the Lakers is near its end. James is pushing 40 and while he’s maintained a high level of play, his age is showing and decline, already underway, will accelerate. Anthony Davis has been hit or miss for a while now due to his injury history and there is no one else on the roster who can take the team into the future. A rebuild seems inevitable and that makes the future sketchy for everyone, Reddish and Giles included.
On Tuesday, we’ll see if Paolo Banchero and Wendell Carter can help give Orlando a 3-2 lead over Cleveland.
