Local BOCES students earn medals at state trade skills competition
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The New York State SkillsUSA competition was held last week at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse. Among the 60 students from across 21 area school districts that participated in the trade skills showcase, ten Capital Region BOCES students were awarded medals for earning first, second and third place in their respective contests.
Two of the local students won their trade's state competition. Jacob Alaimo, a cosmetology senior from the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District, and Liam Pierce, a network technology senior from the Niskayuna Central School District, will now head to Atlanta in late June to participate in the national SkillsUSA competition.
