State of education in U.S. is abysmal | READER COMMENTARY
I support every word of Armstrong Williams’ recent column on education (“Armstrong Williams: the decay of education,” April 28).
May I add to the list of basic things “they do not know” by the time many students graduate from elementary school? They include: reading, scanning, simple computation, spelling, grammar, capitalization, punctuation, composing a complete sentence, editing, outlining, note taking, letter writing, book reports, maps, landforms, oceans, continents, states, American history, social studies, memorizing times tables, telling time, taking quizzes, answering essay questions, solving multiple choice questions, study skills, homework and quiet.
The decay of education, the sabotage of learning began many years ago. Time to stop throwing good money after bad educational practices.
