Over 2,000 Afghan migrants expelled from Iran and Pakistan in one day
The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriations reports that more than two thousand Afghan migrants have re-entered the country after being expelled by the governments of Pakistan and Iran.
The ministry stated in a press release today, Tuesday, April 30th, that 260 Afghan migrants returned to the country on the 29th of April after being expelled by the Pakistani police.
According to the press release, the mentioned migrants returned to the country through the Torkham border crossing in Nangarhar province.
Meanwhile, the ministry added that 2,368 Afghan migrants also re-entered Afghanistan from Iran on the 29th of April.
Officials say the returnees re-entered Afghan soil through the Islam Qala border crossing in Herat province.
The Ministry of Refugees announces the return of migrants from Iran at a time when the expulsion of Afghan migrants from Iran, especially Pakistan, has increased in recent months.
