My concealer always formed lines under my eyes – I finally found the secret to keeping them smooth, you need a key step
ONE beauty lover has let her smooth under-eye secret out of the makeup bag.
All it takes is one easy trick to avoid a common application mistake that causes cracks.
It’s time to take a stand against concealer forming lines and cracks under the eye area by using one simple trick (stock image)[/caption]Concealer might be used to cover up imperfections, but for some, it can make your eye area look even worse if you’re not careful.
“I’ve always had issues with my concealer under my eyes forming lines and cracks as the day goes on,” said Redditor RayceC.
“Then I tried baking my under eye area and it fixed the issue!” she added.
This makeup method might have worked for her, but she remained “confused” as to why so many other people noticed worsening cracks after trying the baking technique.
With this eye-popping realization, she set out to set the beauty record straight.
“I looked at what could be the cause and I realized the one step that is never discussed that makes all the difference,” she said.
It was time to use her crucial tip to combat creases.
To get the best results, she recommends incorporating the technique before you apply any powder.
“Use a wet beauty blender to smooth out the concealer and then immediately apply the powder over that before looking around and causing more creases,” she said.
“If you don’t do this one step, your concealer will have likely already creased and if you apply the powder over creased concealer, you just set the creasing and it gets worse,” she added.
The method is ideal for those with more “mature” skin.
The top-selling Beautyblender original makeup sponge sells for $20 and is described as featuring soft, latex-free foam to quickly blend makeup for a skin-like finish.
She also described the baking process which was made even more famous by Kim Kardashian.
“Baking is just setting your foundation/concealer with powder so it stays,” she said.
“You pack the powder on and leave it to sit while you do other things – I do my brows while it sits,” she added.

“Then you brush it off and powder the rest of your face. I usually bake under my eyes and along my jaw under the contouring.”
She explained how she originally learned the “jaw bake” technique from drag queens.
Some users had questions for the age-defying makeup maven.
“Won’t this emphasize my pores even more?” asked one reader.
“I really hate using powder products because I almost feel like they make my skin look worse than before I started. Porefessional primer works great, but even that can’t perform miracles,” she added.

“The rest of my face just gets the usual light dusting. I have oily skin, so if I don’t use any powder at all, my makeup disappears in patches of oil as the day goes on,” she continued.
She also shared an additional tip.
“I do this with my concealer as well. I run it lower down and blend it upwards instead of up near the lower lash line and downwards,” she said.

Another Redditor explained what works best for her.
“I can’t bake my under eyes, it gets super dry and crepey. What works best for me is applying my under-eye powder with my finger and gently making sure it’s really pressed into the concealer,” she said.
