Fire damages home in Scott Monday night, no injuries reported
SCOTT, La. (KLFY) -- Fire damaged a home in Scott Monday night but caused no injuries, authorities said.
The Scott Fire Department was dispatched to a residential fire in the 300 block of Riner Drive in Scott just after 10 p.m. Monday, where firefighters saw smoke coming from the home. Firefighters located a fire in the attic, above the front porch of the home, which was quickly brought under control.
Investigators said the fire was accidental, and determined that it started as a result of an electrical malfunction in a recessed light located in the ceiling of the front porch. The home received minimal damage, authorities said.
No firefighters or civilians were injured as a result of the incident. Firefighters from Duson and Judice responded to assist, officials said.
