Shooting in US leaves at least 3 dead and 5 injured
US police authorities have announced that three police officers were killed and five others wounded following a shooting incident in North Carolina.
Johnny Jennings, the chief of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, stated at a press conference that the event occurred on Monday, April 30th,, in Charlotte, North Carolina.
According to the authorities, the shooting took place when officers from the Charlotte police department went to the residence of a suspect to execute an arrest warrant.
Johnny Jennings emphasized that the house was cleared by security forces, and eventually, the suspected individuals were also killed in the altercation in the backyard of the house.
Reports indicate that three police officers were killed in this shooting, and the condition of one of the five wounded individuals is said to be critical.
Before this incident, US officials had announced that two people were killed and at least six others wounded following a shooting in the state of Tennessee.
Meanwhile, armed violence in America has escalated unprecedentedly, with attacks occurring more frequently in public places such as schools, shopping centres, churches, and street festivals.
According to the Gun Violence Archive (GVA) report, in 2023, over 42,000 people in the US lost their lives due to firearms, both hot and cold.
