9 Colombian soldiers killed in military helicopter crash
International media have reported the deaths of nine Colombian soldiers as a result of a helicopter crash in the most unsafe region of the country, Bolívar Norte.
According to Gustavo Petro, the President of Colombia, media outlets reported that the military aircraft crashed yesterday, April 29th, while deploying fresh troops to combat drug trafficking gangs in the Bolívar Norte area.
The crashed military aircraft was reported to be a Russian-made Mi-17 helicopter, but no information has been provided yet about the cause of the crash.
The Bolívar Norte region in Colombia is one of the most unsafe areas in the country, primarily due to the presence of the largest cocaine cartel, engaged in warfare with the Colombian army, as reported by Voice of America.
The deadly crash of the helicopter underscores the perilous conditions faced by Colombian soldiers as they combat drug trafficking in regions like Bolívar Norte.
Despite the loss suffered in this incident, Colombia remains resolute in its determination to confront drug cartels and criminal organizations operating within its borders.
