Brit boyband reunite for one-off tour – two years after bandmate’s tragic death
TWO members of The Wanted are reuniting for a series of tour dates in India.
Max George and Siva Kaneswaran are heading to the country for the first time – but without bandmates Jay McGuiness and Nathan Sykes.
Max shared the news with fans revealing they will be performing in Mumbai and Bagalore in May of this year.
He wrote: “Myself and Siva can’t wait for this! Our first time in India.. Dream come true!.”
It’s the first time they will hit the road again following the death of their bandmate Tom Parker.
The group all toured together in 2022 and just weeks after it came to an end Tom tragically died, on March 30 from a brain tumour.
The news sent shockwaves round the world and the boys have spent months processing the sad news.
Tom’s widow Kelsey previously told how Jay had stayed with the family during his final days.
“Jay stayed with us. He was upstairs in the loft room, just so I knew he was there. When I woke up in the mornings I knew I could just get up and go to see Tom at the hospice.
“They’re a massive part of our lives and always have been. They are role models for the kids too, so I want them to come over and have their input in their lives and to tell them stories about their dad.
“They know stories I don’t know. Bodhi’s going to want to know the stories. He is going to ask, ‘What did my dad get up to on the tour bus?’ and he’ll be able to ask them when he’s older. They will always be there for us.”
It is unclear why Jay isn’t joining them but he recently released his debut novel and has been busy promoting that.
Tom’s death
Tom died peacefully on March 30, with Kelsey at his side, after being visited by each of his bandmates.
They carried his coffin at his funeral on April 20.
He was diagnosed with stage four glioblastoma back in October 2020.
Brain tumour symptoms
Brain Tumour Research says tumours increase pressure in the skull, causing headaches.
Symptoms to look for are:
- Headaches
- Loss of appetite
- Nausea and vomiting
- Loss of balance
- Mood swings
- Problems speaking
- Problems with memory or concentration
- Seizures
- Impaired vision
He was told that he likely has 12 to 18 months to live, but after six rounds of chemotherapy and 30 radiotherapy sessions, the singer revealed his tumour is “stable” back in November.
In early March 2022, Parker received treatment in a private hospital abroad in Spain.
Once the treatment was completed, Parker returned back to the UK where he managed to join his bandmates on tour in a wheelchair as he was too weak to stand on March 7, 2022.
