Forget the Bluey chair, now parents are racing to Aldi for nearly identical Jellycat dupes that are £54 cheaper
IT was the Bluey chair causing a furore at Aldi last week.
But now there’s a new arrival that’s got people racing to the middle aisle of the supermarket – and it’s just as adorable.
People have been taking to social media to rave about the super cute dragon toys, that look incredibly similar to one sold at Jellycat.
However, the dragons at Aldi – which come in three different colours – cost just £3.99, compared to the £58 a medium Jellycat dragon would set you back.
“Come with me to find the Aldi dragon,” Alice said in a video on her TikTok page.
Finding the plush toys in store, she said: “So cute! I don’t know which to get!”
She then shared a snap of the green dragon with purple wings, and the grey one with cream wings, adding: “Two lil dragons coming home with me!”
“Treated myself to the £4 Aldi dragons!!” Alice captioned the video.
“We got all 3,” one person commented.
As Alice admitted: “Very tempted to go and get the other!!”
“I got the green and purple one and named her jelly bean,” another added.
“My husband surprised me with one of these yesterday! so cute!” a third commented.
To which Alice replied: “They’re adorable!! I love them so much!”
“I got mine today got the cute blue one called him Fred,” someone else said.
Meanwhile, Emilie also shared a video on TikTok of the “happy little dude” as she headed to her local store.
“Aldi has rip off Jellycat dragons for £4,” she wrote over the top.
“This is not a drill!”
When's the best time to shop at Aldi?
WHEN it comes to shopping at Aldi, the best time to do so depends on what you want to buy.
For reduced items – when shops open
Red sticker items are rare at Aldi’s 830 UK stores, but the supermarket says that none of its food goes to waste so there are some to be found – if you’re quick.
A spokesman for the supermarket said: “All items are reduced to 50 per cent of the recommend sales price before stores open on their best before or use by dates.”
That means you have the best chance of finding reduced food items if you go into stores as soon as it opens.
Opening times vary by shop but a majority open from 7am or 8am. You can find your nearest store’s times by using the supermarket’s online shop finder tool.
For Specialbuys – Thursdays and Sundays
Specialbuys are Aldi’s weekly collection of items that it doesn’t normally sell, which can range from pizza ovens to power tools.
New stock comes into stores every Thursday and Sunday, so naturally, these are the best days to visit for the best one-off special deals.
For an even better chance of bagging the best items, head there for your local store’s opening time.
You don’t have to head into stores to bag a Specialbuy, though.
They also go on sale online, usually at midnight on Thursday and Sunday, and you can pre-order them up to a week in advance.
As long as you spend at least £25, you’ll get the items delivered for free.
Remember: once they’re gone, they’re gone, so if there’s something you really want, visit as early as possible
“GET IN THE CAR!” one person commented on Emilie’s clip.
As another added: “Just showed my partner saying I want these.
“He said get all 3 please be there tomorrow.
“Mother of dragons if I get them!”
“Literally bought one 30 mins before seeing this!” a third admitted.
While someone else wrote: “I’m not even that bothered about Jellycats but that I need that dragon!”
